The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) at Debre Markos University (DMU) successfully organized a Completed Research Project Workshop on 28 July 2026 at Hall-7. The event brought together researchers, academic staff, reviewers, university leaders, and invited participants to evaluate and disseminate research findings that address pressing challenges in agriculture, food security, animal health, crop production, and sustainable rural development. Six completed research projects were presented during the workshop using a structured presentation format that encouraged constructive academic engagement and knowledge exchange.

The workshop featured research on tomato production technologies, food-borne pathogens from animal sources using a One Health approach, integrated management of chickpea diseases and insect pests, the socioeconomic impacts of exotic chicken production, and sustainable agricultural innovations and value chain development in the Amhara Region. Following each presentation, reviewers and participants engaged presenters with insightful questions and provided valuable comments and recommendations aimed at strengthening the scientific quality, practical relevance, and societal impact of the research findings. The interactive discussions created an excellent platform for scholarly learning, constructive criticism, and experience sharing among researchers and experts.

In the closing session, participants emphasized that completed research should not only generate scientific knowledge but also provide practical solutions to community challenges and contribute to evidence-based policymaking. Reviewers encouraged researchers to carefully address the comments and recommendations raised during the workshop before publishing their findings in reputable scientific journals and translating the results into practical applications. They also highlighted the importance of presenting research with clear objectives, sound methodology, robust data analysis, well-supported conclusions, and actionable recommendations to maximize research impact.

The coordinator, Dr. Tarekgne Wondmagegne (Vice Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources) emphasized that completed research workshops are an integral part of the University’s quality assurance system, providing researchers with an opportunity to refine their work through expert review and constructive scholarly discussion before wider dissemination. He expressed his appreciation to the researchers, reviewers, moderators, rapporteurs, and participants whose active engagement contributed to the success of the event and encouraged researchers to incorporate the recommendations received to further enhance the quality and impact of their research outputs.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Sintayehu Musie, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, commended the researchers for their dedication to generating knowledge that addresses national and community development priorities. He acknowledged the valuable contributions of the reviewers, moderators, chairpersons, rapporteurs, and participants in enriching the scientific discussions and enhancing the quality of the presented research. Dr. Sintayehu further reaffirmed the College’s commitment to strengthening its research culture through rigorous review, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the production of high-quality, impactful research that supports sustainable agricultural development and improves livelihoods in Ethiopia. He also encouraged researchers to incorporate the constructive feedback received during the workshop into their final reports and future scientific publications, emphasizing that continuous improvement is essential for achieving research excellence and maximizing societal impact.
