{"id":1782,"date":"2026-08-13T13:13:40","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T13:13:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/agri.dmu.edu.et\/?p=1782"},"modified":"2026-08-14T13:45:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T13:45:12","slug":"a-virtual-meeting-held-on-dmu-and-edelmark-as-strengthen-partnership-for-joint-research-and-innovation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/agri.dmu.edu.et\/?p=1782","title":{"rendered":"A Virtual Meeting held on \u201cDMU and Edelmark AS Strengthen Partnership for Joint Research and Innovation\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"945\" height=\"393\" src=\"https:\/\/agri.dmu.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1783\" srcset=\"http:\/\/agri.dmu.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/image-1.png 945w, http:\/\/agri.dmu.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/image-1-300x125.png 300w, http:\/\/agri.dmu.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/image-1-768x319.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Debre Markos University (DMU) and Edelmark AS held a virtual meeting on 13 August 2026<\/strong> to discuss the implementation of their recently established Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and identify practical areas for collaboration in research, innovation, capacity building, and technology transfer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The meeting was opened by <strong>Dr. Melkamu Bezabih<\/strong>, Vice President for Research and Community Service at DMU, who welcomed the partners and emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing shared agendas, particularly in the <strong>bio-circular economy, sustainable resource utilization, research, and innovation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Dr. Sintayehu Musie<\/strong> presented an overview of DMU and the DMU\u2013Edelmark AS MoU, while <strong>Alene Tesfamichael<\/strong>, Founder and CEO of Edelmark AS, introduced the company and highlighted potential areas of collaboration, including <strong>vermicomposting and biochar technology<\/strong>. <strong>Dr. Dereje T Asefa<\/strong>, Project Leader at Edelmark AS, further introduced the company\u2019s work and potential contributions to the partnership. <strong>Dr. Getnet Atinafu<\/strong>, Director of International Relations of\u00a0 Research and Partnership at DMU, highlighted the university\u2019s partnership journey and commitment to strategic collaboration.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1784\" src=\"http:\/\/agri.dmu.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Picture1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"966\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"http:\/\/agri.dmu.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Picture1.png 966w, http:\/\/agri.dmu.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Picture1-300x142.png 300w, http:\/\/agri.dmu.edu.et\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/08\/Picture1-768x363.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 966px) 100vw, 966px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Participants welcomed the initiative and emphasized the need to translate the MoU into <strong>practical and measurable joint activities<\/strong>. They proposed establishing a <strong>joint working team<\/strong> to identify funding opportunities, develop research concepts, and prepare joint proposals.
